EVIE ASHTON

My name is Evie Ashton. I'm a film composer studying at Guildhall School of Music and Drama! Since I was small I have always loved music, and at a young age I was consuming the soundtrack of a film before I understood the film itself. Writing for film is one of my biggest joys in life, being able to work creatively to use sound as a medium for emotion.

Shadow of the Mountain

Short Film Score

SOTM was my first ever short film at the age of 16, a ten minute drama written by Simon Phelps. I had an incredible time working on it, and went on to win Best Score at the Short Sounds Film Festival in Bournemouth.

Not Quite Eric Satie

Piano and Synth

This short piece is a pitch where someone asked for 'not quite Eric Satie, but inspired by, and with some synthesis'. It's very chill, very piano, and not quite Eric Satie.

I am, before all, a composer at heart.  I work hard to call myself this as a disabled creator, making sure I don't fall behind, pouring all emotion I can into my work each time I put pen to paper or hand to key.  My art in all forms is inspired by the amazing people I have known, the trials I have encountered, and the joy I have for life and all it contains.

At the age of 16 I won my first award, the Bournemouth Short Sounds Film Festival, winning Best Score for the production 'Shadow of the Mountain' by Simon Phelps, a production based in and thoroughly inspired by the glorious and sometimes hostile terrain of Cumbria.  This beautiful place is where I was born, raised, and lived until my move to London at the age of 20.

My ongoing studies at Guildhall School of Music and Drama encourage me to be the very best I can be, and prove that even in the modern day (where the world likes to discourage young creative individuals), you can follow your dreams and pursue any career you dream of, so long as you have the dedication.
